Superman Red Son

I am very thankful I had the money to
purchase Superman Red Son on DVD. I knew very little about this
Elseworlds storyline. I knew that Superman landed in Russia instead of
the United States. I knew that Superman Red Son took it from there. I
did not expect a lot of what happened in Superman Red Son. That made
this a more interesting animated movie to watch from my perspective.
The issues families will have with Superman Red Son are violence, blood,
bad language, lack of attire, enticement to lust, promoting of sexual
deviancy, and more. Superman Red Son is very anti-American in a great
many ways. Superman supposedly helps Russia become more and more power
and topple all kinds of different countries. He even murders Stalin
early on in this movie after finding out about the gulags.
There are two stand out characters in Superman Red Son. Those two
characters are Batman and Lex Luthor. Batman is a Russian citizen who
fights against Superman and his mind control devices. Superman sees
taking free will away from people as better than murdering them. Is it
really though? Wonder Woman questions Superman on this in this movie
multiple times. Lex Luthor is all about capitalism and America. Luthor
does eventually defeat Superman.
SPOILER ALERT! The end of Superman Red Son leaves the door open for a
sequel to this movie. Superman goes into hiding as Clark Kent. Or at
least he looks like Clark Kent to me. Superman finally realizes that
mankind needs to make its own choices and not be forced into what he
feels is best. Superman becomes a tyrant in Superman Red Son. This is
why rooting for Batman and Lex Luthor feels much more natural. It is
also great to see all of the things Lex Luthor comes up with in this
Elseworld.
I am not big on all of the hatred and propaganda against the United
States of America in Superman Red Son. It is predictable coming from
Holly Weird. At the same time I think this exact perspective is easy for
Holly Woke since they align more with Communist than freedom loving
people. The irony is if they got to live under the Communist system they
would hate it just like those who have escaped it.
I like how Superman Red Son shows the interaction in the Cold War. How
would Superman on the Russian side change things? How would Superman
react to certain things if he was brainwashed into the Communist way of
doing things. I also found the fear of Superman very interesting in this
movie. Superman Red Son explores some interesting concepts that are
similar to other concepts explored with Superman in the past.
