Treasure Hounds

My belly is still sore from laughing so hard from watching Treasure Hounds on DVD. It is awesome that Lionsgate sent Family Friendly Gaming a reviewable copy of this movie. Kids will get into Treasure Hounds. There is a dog on the cover of Treasure Hounds. I want you to know this is not an animal movie. It is a movie abouts kids around the age of twelve. So kids in middle school.

A mother and her son (Jack) move into a small town from the city after Jack's grandfather dies. His grandfather left them a treasure of Spanish coins. Jack meets some local kids his age and they go on a quest to find this treasure. Initially Jack wants to get the money to get back to the city. He does grow into getting the money to save the town. The towns pipes are rusting and need to be fixed. Or the federal government will force everyone to move.

The dog Skipper will fall asleep when he gets too excited. This only happens a couple of times in Treasure Hounds though. The cat has a minor role. Treasure Hounds borrows heavily from other movies. I caught some Home Alone, Scooby Doo, and more in Treasure Hounds. Which is fine because there are definitely plenty of funny parts in Treasure Hounds.

There are two burglars who are trying to get the Spanish treasure for their German mother. One tall, and one shorter who like to insult one another. Their lack of intelligence is what gives us so many funny moments in Treasure Hounds. There is some rude humor, and mild violence in Treasure Hounds. Things like dodgeballs being throw at someone, and another person has their head knocked through a wall. Most of the violence is shown off camera though.

The beginning of Treasure Hounds felt a little clumsy. I like the music in Treasure Hounds. I will not spoil the ending of Treasure Hounds for you. I will say that I enjoyed this movie from the start to the finish. The kids break into multiple places thanks to one of them having the keys to the dying town. I wish the front cover more accurately represented the true characters in this film.
