Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2

I have not seen the movie Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2 yet. So hopefully my review of the Nintendo DS game based on the movie does not spoil anything. Especially if you have not seen the movie yet either. I really enjoyed the first movie, so I hope the sequel is fantastic.

One thing I know for sure about Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2 is there are foodimals. Part food, part animal. Strange looking things. Foodimals are some of the unlockable content in Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2 on the Nintendo DS.

Have you played Fruit Ninja before? Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2 plays a lot like Fruit Ninja. Things are tossed up in the air and we slice them into two pieces. Later on we can slice certain objects multiple times. I have always liked multiple slices. Especially when it is apple pie.

There are multiple areas in Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2. Each of them has their own unique theme. The level of detail in Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2 is okay. I have seen better and I have seen worse. Unfortunately the Nintendo DS is showing its age.

One of the coolest things about Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2 is what was done with the two screens. The top screen shows everything in vibrant color. The bottom screen will show the shadows of the objects flying around the top screen. You can literally play this little game by watching the top screen, bottom screen, or both. I appreciate this kind of flexibility.

There are sound bytes from the movie used in this hand held game. They are funny the first so many times you hear them. After that I focused more on completing the levels. Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2 will present players with some unique preset conditions. Like not letting more than three fall. Or to attain so many of a certain fruit. This kept me on my toes, especially when we consider the game play can get boring.
