Rockos Modern Life Season Three
SCORE: 71
Rocko, Spunky, Heffer and Filburt are
back! Get ready for more zany O-Town adventures when Rocko’s Modern
Life: Season Three arrives on DVD July 3rd. Packed with all 13 wacky
episodes including a murder investigation involving the Bigheads, Heffer
unearthing a rare talent for belching, Filburt popping the question and
the exposure of Rocko’s spinach tooth, this 2-DVD set features an
all-new cover art illustration and special commentary by series creator
Joe Murray.
Creator Joe Murray worked with Nickelodeon to produce the very
successful and critically acclaimed animated series Rocko’s Modern Life
in the mid 1990’s. The series continues to develop a cult following
years after finishing its time on TV. Rocko’s Modern Life received
multiple awards and award nominations during its run. Part of its
success was due to the nature of the show, which included humor for both
children and adults. For those looking for a comparision, look no
further than Nickelodeons other flagship animated series SpongeBob,
SquarePants – for which various of the Rocko’s Modern Life voice talents
and other contributors worked with.
Rocko’s Modern Life: Season Three does contain those very elements such
as adult humor and inappropriate innuendo. The artistic style is similar
to that seen in SpongeBob, SquarePants. The 2 disc DVD set includes 13
episodes of Rocko and his friends on their wacky adventures – equaling
around 5 hours of TV viewing. For those animation enthusiast or hard
core Nickelodeon fans Rocko’s Modern Life: Season Three is worth a look
– but not for the youngest of audiences due to the adult humor.
Overall, Rocko’s Modern Life: Season Three will be something the fans of
SpongeBob, SquarePants may enjoy if they have not previously watched
Rocko’s Modern Life. That being said, these types of animated series are
somewhat of an acquired taste as far as I am concerned. Due to the adult
humor and innuendo, I can’t recommend to the whole family. I do
appreciate the efforts of Shout! Factory in bringing back some classic
TV series and look forward to what else they will be bringing to the
shelves in the future.
