Batman Arkham Asylum
I have heard worldly friends talk about Batman Arkham Asylum for months. They worship the game on a level that made me more than a little uncomfortable. Since the ESRB gave it a 'T' for Teen rating it is under the umbrella of games we review here at Family Friendly Gaming. It is also wonderful that we can look at the game from a Christian viewpoint, and let everyone know the problems with this game from a moral and ethical stand point. I also noticed some issues in terms of realism in this game, but then it is a based on a comic book. Well the characters are. The production value of Batman Arkham Asylum is amazingly high. This video game is immersive in terms of its environment. Batman plays and acts exactly as I would expect him to in terms of the darker versions of him. The well known voice actors from the cartoons revisit their roles in this PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 video game. I purchased the last one for this review. The details in the graphics are very realistic, which can be a bad thing when the violence is slowed down to show the brutal hits. Batman's various different vision modes can be disorientating at times, but I learned to take breaks. Stopping the Joker is the goal of Batman Arkham Asylum, and I have to admit the story has some high points in terms of the writing. It also have many expected cliches. I am working on getting a review in a future issue of Family Friendly Gaming. Batman Arkham Asylum has these ESRB descriptors: Alcohol and Tobacco Reference, Blood, Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, and Violence. {01/24/2010} - Sam
