Soma Games Launches Kickstarter Campaign for New Redwall Adventure Game

NEWBERG, Ore — May 1, in the year of our Lord 2013 — Soma Games, the gaming arm of the award-winning development company Code-Monkey’s, is pleased to launch its first round of Kickstarter funding for the new Redwall Adventure Game, The Warrior Reborn. Soma Games optioned the rights to make the Redwall video game and is enlisting the support of the Redwall community to help guide and develop the game.

Soma Games is working hard to maintain the High-Fantasy character of the Brian Jacques adventure novels. To being, they are using the wildly popular game Minecraft as a prototyping tool for the eponymous Redwall Abbey plus an adventure map and game server for fans interested in keeping track of progress. Additionally, Kickstarter backers will be given sneak peeks at development as it happens. Within the Minecraft framework, Soma Games can share, communicate and leak news to the people with the tenacity to follow in Matthias' footsteps across the sandstone floors of the storied edifice.

Soma Games is partnering closely with Sean Rubin, who has been the official Redwall artist for several years and is the unofficial curator of the canon. His participation will ensure The Warrior Reborn is conveying not only the broad strokes of the books, but also the fine details.

“We are so excited to bring the Redwall series to life in an adventure game,” said Chris Skaggs, CEO of Soma Games. “We originally planned to dive right in and get busy creating the full adventure game without any preliminary steps. But we realized we want the most important people, the Redwall fans, to have a say in making this something that would make Brian Jacques proud and that meant creating a channel, to communicate with them."

Soma Games, and its sister company Code-Monkeys, has built over 300 award-winning apps and games on several platforms for industry-leading clients like Intel, Aruba Networks and Belkin, including a recent MacWorld Best of Show award and Best UX in Intel's Ultimate Coder Challenge for 2013.
