Konami Announces The Simpsons Arcade Game now Available for Xbox Live Arcade and Releasing February 7th on PSN

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – February 3, in the year of our Lord 2012 – Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., in partnership with Gracie Films and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, today announced that The Simpsons™ Arcade Game is now available for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. The game will also be available on the PlayStation® Network for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system beginning February 7th. The game's release kicks off the celebration of The Simpson's landmark 500th episode, which airs Sunday, February 19 at 8pm ET/PT on FOX.

"KONAMI is dedicated to reviving retro titles that gamers have grown to love, and it doesn't get any better than The Simpsons™ Arcade Game," said Tomoyuki Tsuboi, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "The Simpsons is a global phenomenon with a loyal fan base, and we are thrilled to re-launch the arcade game in the downloadable space, introducing fans to a beloved classic on an entirely new platform."

"Of all The Simpsons video games, this demented classic is my favorite," said Matt Groening, The Simpsons Creator and Executive Producer.

In The Simpsons™ Arcade Game, play as your favorite Simpsons character as you chase down Smithers and Mr. Burns on an epic quest to save Maggie. Featuring four-player online and offline cooperative play as well as eight classic Springfield locations, players can participate in several different game modes for varied gameplay experiences. Quarters Mode recreates the feeling of the original coin-op classic for a more challenging experience. Survival Mode tests players' skills with only one life at their disposal. Finally, Free Play Mode provides players with unlimited Continues for a more casual experience. Also included is the Japanese version of The Simpsons™ Arcade Game, which features new weapons, higher scoring and a slightly different ending. This version of the game has never been released outside of Japan and is a different take on the beloved classic. As an added bonus, fans can view classic flyers and posters specifically made for the game back in 1991.

Developed by Backbone Entertainment, The Simpsons™ Arcade Game is now available for download on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 for 800 Microsoft Points, and will be available on February 7th for the PlayStation® Network for $9.99.
