EA SPORTS Predicts LA GALAXY will Triumph in MLS CUP 2011

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – November 17, in the year of our Lord 2011 – LA Galaxy will win its third MLS Cup with a 3-1 victory over Houston Dynamo in front of a sold-out hometown crowd at The Home Depot Center, according to an EA SPORTS™ FIFA Soccer 12 videogame simulation of MLS Cup 2011 using the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system. Galaxy led 2-0 on goals by David Beckham (7th minute) and Robbie Keane (62nd minute), and then survived a frantic comeback by Houston after Geoff Cameron narrowed the score to 2-1 in the 73rd minute. Landon Donovan clinched the victory—and the third MLS Cup for the Galaxy—with a goal in 86th minute.

A video simulation of the Galaxy victory over Houston in MLS Cup 2011 is available here: http://www.ea.com/soccer/news/ea-sports-predicts-mls-cup-final-2011-01.

EA SPORTS has a proven track record of correctly predicting winners using its game engines across all of its simulation sports franchises. This year, EA SPORTS simulated the entire 2011 MLS regular season, and correctly determined that the LA Galaxy would capture the MLS Supporters’ Shield. The FIFA Soccer game engine also correctly predicted that Spain would win the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

The Madden NFL franchise has correctly predicted six of the past eight Super Bowl champions, while the EA SPORTS NHL series engine accurately predicted the Chicago Blackhawks as the 2010 Stanley Cup® champion; the Vancouver Canucks® as the 2011 Presidents’ Trophy winner; and the 2011 Stanley Cup Final matchup of the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks.

Fans around the globe will compare the EA SPORTS FIFA Soccer 12 score line with the real-world MLS Cup 2011 on Sunday, November 20 (9:00 p.m. ET, ESPN, ESPN Deportes, Galavision, TSN2, ESPN3.com). Beginning Nov. 22 at 2:00 PM ET, fans will have the opportunity to play a special EA SPORTS Football Club challenge within FIFA Soccer 12 featuring a compelling story line pulled from the MLS Cup.
