RetroMania Wrestling

One of the biggest misses in the video game industry has been the lack of a home console version of WWF Wrestlefest. Sure THQ did that iOS app which was more of a cash grab than anything else. That style of a wrestling video game has not been really done right until RetroMania Wrestling. There is a major difference between WWF Wrestlefest and RetroMania Wrestling. That difference is we get indie wrestlers in RetroMania Wrestling.

The game play style and the art work in RetroMania Wrestling remind me of WWF Wrestlefest. I hope RetroMania Wrestling does really well because it will show the brain deads running too many of these companies that we enjoy games like this one. We can play RetroMania Wrestling in singles, tag team, six man tag, eight man tag, three way, four way, and retro rumble. The match options are elimination, steel cage, and tornado.

There are only sixteen wrestlers in RetroMania Wrestling right now. There are more coming, and RetroMania Wrestling is going to receive a physical copy release from Limited Run Games at some point. We get retro graphics and sounds in RetroMania Wrestling. None of that bothered me and I really enjoyed how RetroMania Wrestling zooms in. Multiple difficulty settings are available in RetroMania Wrestling.

The issues families can have with RetroMania Wrestling are violence, lack of attire, enticement to lust, and some bad language. We can play Story, 10 Pounds of Gold, Retro Rumble and Versus in RetroMania Wrestling. The options allow families to adjust the difficulty. I found one where I could last the entire Retro Rumble and win. How cool is that? The NWA are well represented in RetroMania Wrestling.

There are some nods to past video games in RetroMania Wrestling like when you beat the Retro Rumble. RetroMania Wrestling tells players: "Congratulations A Winner Is You." I found an issue here and there with collision detection. I like the system of weak, middle, and hard attacks. We have a gauge that builds up for the stronger attacks. The health bar needs to be depleted to go for the pin.

The different rings are neat to see in RetroMania Wrestling. I can tell a lot of effort went into their design and the people in the stands. The Road Warriors are two of the most recognizable names in RetroMania Wrestling. I had fun playing RetroMania Wrestling. It is neat to see this style of game make it to the consoles. I hope the WWE will open the doors to WWF Wrestlefest making it to home consoles at some point in the near future.
