Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Did you know there was a new Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles television show? I found it out with the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the Wii and Xbox 360. There is also a Nintendo 3DS version, but that version is not included in this review.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tries to bring back the old arcade feel of past Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video games. Unfortunately the industry has moved on. Not only that, but also bugs get in the way. What kind of bugs? How about getting a turtle stuck in a corner with no ability to get them out of it. Or in multiplayer the computer controlled turtles stand around watching you hack and slash the enemies.

The hacking and slashing action gets boring in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles quickly. Not only that, but it is also confusing to tell which turtle you are. I lost track of my turtle so many times that I had trouble figuring out where I was on the screen. The violent action gets really chaotic in multiplayer.

Boss battles are much more interesting than hacking and slashing all of these guys. Players have to find the pattern, and right opportunity to strike. Certain things can prompt the boss to start them on their process of becoming vulnerable. Pro tip - hit them when they are invulnerable.

The characters in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles call one another names, and insult one another. At times it was funny. Other times it was childish and lame. There are some strange dynamics like one of the turtles having a crush on April. The look of the characters is distinctive as well.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a short game. Expect to beat it in two to three hours. There are other modes like timed mode. Some skills to unlock, and then purchase for the turtle characters. All in all Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a weekend rental.
