Mamorukun Curse

Mamorukun Curse is part shooter, part anime, and all spiritual warfare. If you take into account it has one of the strangest after life beliefs ever to enter my Playstation 3. Players take on the role of one or multiple members of dead people in the Netherworld. The darkness is moving in, and they must fight to stop it.

We have the normal run of the mill problems with this kind of a game. There is violence, explosions, enticement to lust, bad language, and tobacco. The heaviest part is the violence, followed by the enticement to lust, then the bad language, and finally the tobacco.

The artwork in Mamorukun Curse shouts anime. Which is probably why some of the female characters are dressed like that. Taking demons out to shoot other demonic creatures somehow needs a lack of clothing. Yeah the logic escaped my brain cells as well. The explosions happen so fast it can be hard to see what is going on.

Speaking of having trouble figuring out what is going on - the screen can get filled with all kinds of stuff. That is shots, characters, explosions, and more. Mamorukun Curse tries to do something different though - it slows down to give the player time to plan their next move. This is extremely helpful and lessens the difficulty.

I am disappointed there are not many levels in Mamorukun Curse. There is quite a fair amount of unlockable content, and different ways gamers can play the levels. Players have to explore different modes (story, arcade, and more) to find all of the trophies in Mamorukun Curse.

The timer is a neat feature in my opinion. Killing larger enemies can produce a timer power up that adds to the clock. Players not only have to be good in Mamorukun Curse, they have to be fast. There is one more thing that helps players, and this feature makes my skin crawl. Cursing. Players can curse the enemies and this will negatively impact them (also increase their volume of shots). They can curse themselves to gain even more power (as long as they step within the curse circle).
