Color Commando

Color Commando is a cute little Nintendo DSi game (playable on the Nintendo 3DS too) where we navigate the main character to a treasure chest. Simple right? It would be if those blob characters were not in our way. One touch and we have to start the entire level over again.

What can be done about those blobs? Color Commando calls them monsters (by the way) if you wanted the official name for them. I like blobs with teeth since that is what they look like. So what can be done? We can pick up these little colored orbs. Tap a place on the screen and it splatters that color there. We can now stand in the same space at the blob and not take any damage.

The graphics in Color Commando are okay. I know this is a Nintendo DSi game so I do not expect the shining graphics from the Nintendo 3DS. But still the graphics in Color Commando will not knock your socks off. I can figure out what each object is, and animations flow smoothly. So I have no complaints in this department.

I was talking to the Main Man here at Family Friendly Gaming. I was telling him how impressive the music is in Color Commando. He showed me previous games from Circle Entertainment. This company has a history of making downloadable hand held games that have super sounding music. They impressed me with the music in Color Commando.

Color Commando starts easy as pie. It slowly turns the heat up on the player. Before I knew it I was deep into this hand held game and having problems beating levels. Thankfully there are multiple ways to solve any level. Although in some levels certain things have to be done a specific order.

The only thing I do not like about Color Commando is how short it is. There are twenty-five levels in total. Five of them are unlockable if you earned all of the coins in the previous levels in that world. So Color Commando can be beaten in a few hours. The idea behind Color Commando is great, it just needed some more levels. Like twice as many.
