Kirby's Epic Yarn

Kirbys Epic Yarn

Target put some Wii games on sale recently, and we picked up Kirby's Epic Yarn. This game reminds me of Paper Mario in so many ways. Kirby is now made up of yarn. As are the enemies. The background looks like a craft page. The level of violence in Kirby's Epic Yarn is much higher than I was expecting. Especially when Kirby turns into certain vehicles - like a giant tank that shoots missiles. The yarn creatures fall apart. One thing that is surprising me about Kirby's Epic Yarn is how easy it is, and how short it is. I have also noticed a lack of originality. Nintendo is churning out the same kinds of levels in different games. It is almost like a checklist is being used. Fire level, check. Sand level, check. Ice level, check. Mushroom level, check. I am talking about Kirby's Epic Yarn, but I might as well be describing any Mario game. Kirby's Epic Yarn can be played with one or two players. I found that playing with two people at once is a better experience. The ESRB bestowed an 'E' for Everyone rating with Mild Cartoon Violence being the only descriptor. I hope to have a review in an upcoming issue of Family Friendly Gaming. {05/30/2011} - Paul
