THE SHUNNING Debuts on DVD September 13


CULVER CITY, CALIF. (June 27, in the year of our Lord 2011) – A heartwarming story from the New York Times bestselling author and one of the top Amish fiction writers, Beverly Lewis’ The Shunning debuts on DVD September 13th from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and AFFIRM Films/Provident Films. Directed by Michael Landon Jr. (Love Comes Softly, Saving Sarah Cain, The Velveteen Rabbit), the film illustrates the power of faith and vividly exhibits Lewis’ flair for capturing authentic Amish life and characters by telling the story of a young woman who risks everything to learn the truth about herself. The film stars Danielle Panabaker (Mr. Brooks) and Golden Globe® nominee Sherry Stringfield (TV's “ER”). Bonus features include deleted scenes. SYNOPSIS:
Katie Lapp (Danielle Panabaker) has always struggled with the rules that define her sheltered Amish community, but when a wealthy outsider (Sherry Stringfield) begins asking questions about her family, Katie begins to wonder about her origins. What connection does this woman have to her life…and how will the unraveling secrets challenge Katie’s faith? Beverly Lewis’ The Shunning is a powerful, personal journey of discovery based on the famous novel by the New York Times bestselling author.

The film was directed by Michael Landon Jr. from the teleplay by Chris Easterly. Mitchell Galin and Carey Nelson-Burch produced, with Michael Landon Jr., Brian Bird, and Maura Dunbar acting as executive producers and Cindy Bond as co-executive producer.
