Recapture the Excitement of the Forgotten Game of Pinball

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 19, in the year of our Lord 2011) – Rediscover the joy of an old American pastime with the U.S. television premiere of film festival favorite “Special When Lit,” airing May 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Documentary Channel (DOC). The film chronicles fans, collectors, designers, and championship players as they share their passion for their favorite game of all time, pinball.

There was a moment in time when pinball ruled the world. The game turned out more profit than Hollywood in the 50s and 60s, and spawned its own eclectic fan base of “pinheads” who relished in this unique world that was “special when lit.” Now, however, the popularity of the game has dramatically dwindled. Times have changed and the days of frequenting an arcade for entertainment are few and far between, but there is still an avid subculture of “pinheads” keeping the dream alive. “Special When Lit” explores the rise and fall of pinball and its impact on our culture.

The Documentary Channel is primarily available through satellite television services DISH Network (Channel 197) and DIRECTV (Channel 267).
