Dynamic New Books - The Resolution for Men and Women - Inspired by Film Courageous

NASHVILLE—June 29, in the year of our Lord 2011— The Resolution for Men and The Resolution for Women, two exciting new books—both linked to the film COURAGEOUS from Sherwood Pictures, the makers of FIREPROOF—call men and women everywhere to boldly and publicly commit to God’s plan for them.

Pastors, filmmakers, and brothers Stephen and Alex Kendrick, who co-wrote COURAGEOUS, authored The Resolution for Men; nationally known speaker and Bible teacher Priscilla Shirer penned The Resolution for Women. And like the film, The Resolution books call on Christians to take a bold stand.

“The call to commitment in both Resolution books, is not for the faint of heart,” Stephen Kendrick said. “People are dared to leave their comfort zones, work through hidden issues, and make strategic sacrifices for family and faith.”

The movie COURAGEOUS tells the story of four men—friends serving together as sheriff’s deputies—who wonder if they are doing as good a job at home as they are patrolling the streets. When a tragedy strikes it forces them to examine their lives and leads them to create and sign a resolution to be the fathers and husbands God calls them to be. (COURAGEOUS premieres Sept. 30 with tickets on sale now through all major online ticket sites.) In The Resolution for Men 12 statements beginning with “I will . . .” outline the biblical call for men to fill the roles that protect every family and society. Who should read it? The Resolution applies to every man wanting to prepare for life’s many roles—leader, citizen, husband, father, individual—regardless of age or stage.

“Married or not, with children or not, a man can choose in his life to firmly grip God’s call to step up to spiritually lead our homes and families,” Alex Kendrick said. “Signing the resolution is easy—it takes seconds. The challenge is to live it out, and that takes the rest of our lives.”

In The Resolution for Women, Priscilla Shirer, whom Beth Moore calls “quite possibly the most gifted communicator I have ever witnessed,” delivers rich biblical insight in her trademark personal, approachable style.

“A defining banner hangs over your life written in the ink of your own choices, and others can read it even if you can’t,” Priscilla writes. “You’re already a woman of resolutions.”

But what is it that women resolve? In The Resolution for Women, Priscilla helps readers to determine to discover themselves, what they have, what matters in life . . . and to resolve in every area to discern and live God’s best.

"B&H is honored to partner with the Sherwood team to advance COURAGEOUS and its message—in the U.S. and around the world,” Selma Wilson, B&H Publishing Group president, said. “We know COURAGEOUS will significantly affect fathers, mothers, children, and families for decades to come."
