I found some time recently to read Muddy Waters by Nanci Des Gerlaise. This fantastic book is: "An Insider's View of North American Native Spirituality." Having some Cherokee in my past I was very interested to read this book cover to cover. That is of course not my only interest in this book. As a man who gave his life to Christ decades ago I wanted to comprehend the clear distinctions between Native American Spirituality, and the Good News of Jesus Christ.

There might some reading this wondering why anyone would take an interest in the differences. In fact I can hear some right now saying "It should be obvious." You know what? Those of you saying that are completely right. Problem is the redefinitionists movement over the last fifty years or so has been trying to blur the lines. Those that want to change the future, are doing so by trying to change the past. Not every man, woman, and child takes the time to correct the redefinitions.

Muddy Waters got me thinking about the missionaries who first came to the various tribes and taught them the wonderful Gospel of Jesus Christ. God freed our ancestors from oppression and occultic practices. Fast forward to today, and we learn Native Americans are being forced back into that oppression, and servanthood to Satan. All from a desire to get back to roots. Those missionaries in the past recognized the evil of those religious practices.

Nanci Des Gerlaise does a superb job of explaining her own personal experience with the occult thanks to medicine men. She also sounds the alarm because there are churches that are accepting bad doctrines. Muddy Waters could be the beginning of an all new missions field back to the Native American tribes. I have to wonder how many people are currently going to them and telling them the Good News of Jesus Christ.
