Christmas 2010

I love Christmas time. This is my favorite time of year. Getting to sing hymns that remind me of the birth of Christ is awesome. Having a birthday cake for baby Jesus, going to a candlelight service, and having so much wonderful family time never gets old. Christmas time gives me a small glimpse of what heaven will be like. I cherish so many wonderful memories like my children asking to hear the Christmas story from the Holy Bible just one more time. The joy on their faces as they comprehend what Jesus did for all of us by dying on the cross - pay the price for our sins.

Christmas time is a time when we change our perspectives. We think more about how God feels about what we do. We strive to be better. We strive to be what God designed us to be. We are more thankful, happier, and help others more. Christmas is all about giving, and I love to hear others point it out. I love hearing: "Merry Christmas." I love saying it. I love the additional time I get to pray. I love getting to write about Christmas. Singing hymns at church, at home, in the car, and out in public is one of the warmest things I get to do all year long.

If you have not been to a Christmas service, you really need to go. You will have a wonderful time. The people will be welcoming, warm, and happy. The song will resonate with your soul, and the message will move your heart. The wonderful thing about going to a church service at Christmas time is you do not need to worry about image. They won't care about that. Instead they will care about you - the person.

Christmas is also the perfect time for healing. Many of us do things in our lives to hurt others. Forgiveness is waiting for you at the cross. All you have to do is lay down your burdens there. Do you really want to go through another year carrying your anger, hate, and hurt through another year? Don't you want to be free from that slavery? God offers freedom. Trials and tribulations will come, they always do. Do you want to try and stumble through alone, and fall down. Or would you prefer to have the God of the universe on your side. Footprints in the sand come to mind.

Can you give a little joy to someone else this Christmas?

God bless you and yours,
