From the Editor's Desk

Christmas 2009

I have to admit something to all our wonderful readers. I have neglected the online version of the Editor’s Desk. I apologize for that. We have been so busy with Family Friendly Gaming going monthly (happened this year), and all the reviews we have online – that this part of the column has not been updated in awhile. I am sorry, and I will work to do better.

We visited a Sunday School Bible Study recently where a specific question was asked. That question was: “What was one of your cherished Christmas memories?” We were guests visiting that class for the very first time, and I was taking some time to gather my thoughts. I continued to think about that question after we left church that morning. I have come to an answer, and I would like to share it with all of you.

Noah had not been born yet, and we were going to a church in Federal Way, Washington. It was a candlelight service. I was holding Peter in my arms, and together we were holding the lit candle. Yolanda was at my side with her candle lit. We were singing praises to God with the rest of the church. I could feel God’s presence in that place at that time. Gloria in excelsis Deo was the song that we were singing.

I have no idea how many times we sang that song, and those lyrics. We could have sang for hours and I would have been happy. It gave me a small glimpse of what it will be like singing praises to God in heaven. No cares in the world, and getting caught up in doing something truly important. Angels we have heard on high still brings up memories of that service.

Every year I try and find a candelight service. I do not care the denomination, or the church. If they are singing praises to God in the dark with candles lit, I want to be there. It is a very spiritual moment, and my most cherished Christmas memory. If you have not been to a candlelight service then I strongly encourage you to go to one. You will feel warmth, and love like never before.

I am praying that everyone reading this has a blessed, and loved Christmas this year. Times may be hard, but there is hope. I would encourage you to turn your eyes upon Jesus. His pain and suffering for us puts our problems into perspective. What can you give that would make Jesus happy? After all Christmas is the celebration of His birth.

God bless you and yours,
