From the Editor's Desk

Amazon Growth Future

Wow things are just amazingly crazy right now. I have been meaning to sit down and write an Editor's Desk for quite some time. We have so much going on that I barely know where to begin. First and foremost I am so very pleased with the Left Column upgrade. The addition of Amazon to our review pages comes next. Then I want to discuss the explosion of growth we have been receiving. Finally I want to tease ya'll with some future plans. This is a very exciting time to be a part of Family Friendly Gaming.

Everything associated with Family Friendly Gaming has been a learning experience for me. Look around at this website and know that an unexperienced novice created it. I have learned things along the way, and one of them was include files. As the website grew in page count, it became apparent that changing hundreds to thousands of pages for the new year was very time consuming. Adding a new Christian developer, or making any code/link change to the Left Column was also time consuming. So I put what we wanted into one file, and put a pointer to that file on all the affected pages. Tell me if I missed any ya'll.

All the long time friends and extended family of Family Friendly Gaming know that this ministry/business does not pay for itself completely. One of the possible ways to help make Family Friendly Gaming more financially independent is to partner with Amazon. Readers have brought this idea up before, and recently we implemented it. Newer reviews will have a link at the bottom to purchase the game from Amazon. We get a 4.01% referral from Amazon. It is a way we can grow this business into hopefully a full time job for me one day.

May in the year of our Lord 2008 shocked me. I check our daily hit count to see how we are doing, and to get an idea on trends. We had three days in a row over twenty thousand. Normally we range from three to four thousand in hits on any given day. The We Ski, and Wii Fit reviews had just been released, and the games had not made it to the public yet. I am guessing, but it looks like those reviews were huge breakthroughs for us. I really feel blessed that so many people came by and checked out what we have to say. I want to thank each and ever one of you from the bottom of my heart.

I still want to bring back message boards at some future date. We will need to be more financially viable, but that is still on the table. I also want to get RSS set up at some point in the future. Again we go back to the finances, and this one may take us a little time as well. Issue #18 will be out soon, so we march forward progressing the video game industry out of the darkness into the light.

God bless you and yours,
Paul Bury
